DEAR FAMILY OF FAITH,
This Corpus Christi Sunday, Father Joseph Heit (newly ordained and son of Bernie Heit) will be having a Mass of Thanksgiving at his home parish, St. Patrick in Cottage Grove at 9:00am with a Corpus Christi procession to follow. I encourage you to attend this Mass knowing we’re coming together with St. Patrick in our new pastorate. A plenary indulgence is granted when you attend a priest’s first Mass if you receive Holy Communion the day of the indulgence, pray for the Holy Father’s intentions and go to confession within 20 days.Next weekend, our parish is blessed to be celebrating the re-establishment of IHM as the Shrine of Our Lady of the Green Scapular on June 18. Bishop Hying will be celebrating the 10:15am Holy Mass and the Rosary will be led by the Sisters of Mary Morning Star before Mass at 9:45am.I am looking forward to celebrating this landmark occasion with all of you! Be sure to stay for the parish picnic afterwards. It is free and the main course and some sides will be provided by our very own Knights of Columbus and St. Anne’s Society. We are also looking for volunteers to bring additional side dishes and desserts. A link to sign up is available here and all help is very much appreciated. We’ve invited other parishes to join us, so we are expecting more people than last year and could also use some extra hands to help with the setup, serving and cleanup. If you want to bring chairs, blankets and lawn games, you are welcome to do so.Have a blessed week,
Fr. Chad M. Droessler
