From the Office
Dear Parents,
All of the teachers and staff have been working hard the last few weeks in preparation of the start of the school year next week! We are all looking forward to having our wonderful students back in the building for another year of growth in learning, faith, and fun!
Mrs. Jenna Snider, our PE teacher, needed to take a leave of absence for this school year. I am working on getting a new PE teacher quickly, but in the meantime Mr. Brian Wagner will be stepping in as the PE sub until I can hire someone! Thanks Mr. Wagner!
There are some good things to know at the beginning of the school year – please keep reading below and you may find answers to questions you were wondering about! If you still have questions, please feel free to email Mrs. Winter at secretary@ihm-school.org, or find your child’s teachers email in the directory on your FACTs Family Portal!
Catholic Schools provide a firm foundation for the growth and development of your child. Pray for a year filled with faith and learning. Let us be a community of service to one another and to our world.
God Bless,
Callie Meiller, Principal
Office Reminders
- The Supply List for the 20-21 school year is linked below! Supply lists are also available at www.teacherlists.com. IHM also gets donated supplies from our parish, and they will be available on Back to School Night if you need anything.
- The yearly school calendar is linked below. You can always find our updated daily school calendar here: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0?cid=aXZvbm4uYmxhaG5pazA2QGdtYWlsLmNvbQ
Lunches and Menu
Our kitchen remodel went well this summer, and is almost all wrapped up (the key word being “almost!”). Mrs. Walters, our chef, has planned for the first few weeks, knowing that there will still be some work going on in the kitchen, so the menu is mostly cold sandwiches and wraps. Please also know that food service suppliers are having major struggles right now. Due to COVID, many are short staffed and can’t get even basic products. With schools starting up the situation is going to get worse before it gets better. We want parents to understand that the menu may need to change with little notice. The link to the menu for the first few weeks of school is below. We will send the rest of the month as soon as it is planned, and we know more about the supply and kitchen situations!
When school starts, students (grades 4K-8) will be eating in the cafeteria, and will be distanced as much as possible. Mrs. Walters will pre-package salad bar items, so the salad bar will be available but not “self-serve” as in past years, at least for now!
Mrs. Walters is also looking for several volunteers to come in and help in the kitchen on a weekly basis – one day a week from 1045-1:00. Please email her at hwalters@ihm-school.org if you can help her out!
Drop Off – Pick Up
Please see the UPDATED drop off / pick up sheet linked below for the details on where to drop your students for their first days of school!
Please note that at this time we ask that parents not enter the building for any reason, including drop-off, even on the first day, unless they have been invited, are volunteering, or have made an appointment. We found last year when COVID forced us to have this policy that the separation right at the door was much easier on the students and the parents! Bring them up to the door, kiss and hug them and let them come in! We will take care of them from there! Thanks for helping with this!
Bus
We have been told that bus schedules will be coming out on Monday! Please be patient with the bus system the first few weeks of school. They are often running a little late on both ends at first, but once the kinks are ironed out all runs smoothly! If you have any questions, please call Nelson Bus at 608-221-8417, but this is their crazy busy time of year, so please be patient!
Back to School Night
Back to School Night is next Monday, August 31st from 4-6 PM! The flyer is linked below – all levels are welcome, parents and kids! Come for a few minutes to drop off school supplies and say “Hi!”
Back to School Night is just a quick check in! If you have more questions or concerns that will take more than a minute, please email your child’s teacher (teacher emails are available in the directory on your FACTs Family Portal!)
The ECE has a parent orientation in their room at 5:00 PM and the Middle School orientation for 6th graders and new 7th and 8th graders is in Mrs. Derk’s room at 5:30. We can’t wait to see you there! If you can’t make it, don’t stress, just send supplies with kids on their first day.
