From the Office

Dear Parents,

Sunday October 4th is the feast of St. Francis! To celebrate, Fr. Chad will be offering a modified Pet Blessing on next Tuesday, October 6th at pickup. Please notice the date has changed. Bring your pets and keep them in the car, pick up your kiddos, and then do the “Pet Blessing Drive Through” in the church circle!
The Badger Shields that we ordered for all of the students are here, and I passed them out yesterday. The teachers are going to have the students try them a little everyday to get used to them – it does take awhile, just like the masks do at first. The students are allowed to use either the Badger Shield, a mask, or both. We are so happy to be able to offer this option to our students!
In the next few weeks, IHM teachers will be teaching the Diocese of Madison personal safety program “Circle of Grace” to Grades K-8. There is a letter and FAQ about the program linked below, as well as an “opt out” form. Please let me know if you have any questions about the program!
The Eagle’s Nest, IHM’s used uniform store, will have shopping hours available in October! To sign-up for a time, please visit: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409094aa5aa29a75-eagles
IHM will be holding a food drive in October, to benefit the Sandburg Neighborhood Food Pantry, run by our very own Mrs. Heidi Walters! See the link below for more details!
As a reminder, if your child has an appointment and has to leave early, come late, is sick or going on vacation and won’t be coming at all, please email Mrs. Winter at secretary@ihm-school.org (she will share it with the teacher, or feel free to include the teacher on the email as well) or call the school Absence Voicemail at 608-222-8831 before 8:30 AM on that day, or before.
I also wanted to reiterate that if your child is home sick for the day, we encourage them to use that time to rest and recover. They are welcome to view their teacher’s online lessons (posted in the IHM Learning Platform – Moodle) if they are feeling well enough. However, students will NOT be able to get supplies, technology, or handouts for that day. Teachers will need at least 2 days to prepare, and pick ups for materials will only be on Fridays. Thank you for understanding!
Catholic Schools provide a firm foundation for the growth and development of your child. Pray for a year filled with faith and learning. Let us be a community of service to one another and to our world.
God Bless,
Callie Meiller, Principal

Office Reminders

  • The IHM Office will be sending a TEST Parent Alert message, to test our new alert system through FACTs Thursday around lunchtime. It is only a test!
  • Please make sure to check the IHM Google Calendar here for current dates: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0?cid=aXZvbm4uYmxhaG5pazA2QGdtYWlsLmNvbQ (also linked in the buttons below!) The dates for 4K have changed since we sent out our “one page calendar” at the beginning of the school year. All dates on the Google calendar are the latest info!
  • Please remember that our doors open at 7:45 AM. Students dropped off before 7:45 will need to wait outside, unsupervised, until that time.
  • It’s not too late to order pictures! You can order picture packets online at the Capital School Picture store here: https://capitalschoolpictures.square.site/shop/2.
  • Ongoing: Mrs. Walters can use donations of Ziploc (or any brand) sandwich or snack size bags and brown paper lunch bags. We could also use plasic or paper grocery bags for the Fish Fry. Please send them in with your child to give to the office! Thanks for your support!
  • New families who paid enrollment fees will have the $100 credit on their account as soon as there are charges. If you had no charges for Sept, or only had less than $100, you will see the remainder of the credit on coming months. Returning IHM families do not receive a credit for their enrollment fee.
  • If you want to switch Roomer/Zoomer status, please let your student’s teacher know and give them at least a week to make the required transfers!
  • The Grant & Aid application is available here: Grant & Aid Application.  Please be aware that you need to create a specific Grant & Aid account to apply (your FACTs tuition/SIS account will not work.) The form may indicate that the deadline has passed, but there is no deadline, so please apply if you need to. Funds may be limited, so apply as soon as you can. Let us know if you need help with the application.

Thank You!

Many, many thanks to the anonymous donors that donated Air Purifiers to every one of our classrooms! They are sized to handle the air in our large classrooms, and run practically silently! Thank you so much for helping to keep our school healthy and open!

HSA News

All those who purchased Scrip this month were entered into a drawing for a free fish fry bucket. This month’s winner is the Voice Family! Congratulations! Thanks to all who support our Scrip program. October’s incentive will be announced soon.

Did You Know?

St. Francis’ mother baptized him with the name Giovanni (John)? His father, a silk merchant who was traveling on business in France when he was born, changed his name to Francesco which means “frenchman.”
