From the Office
Dear Parents,
National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated every year from September 15 to October 15! Hispanic and Latino Americans make up almost 20 percent of Catholic school students and 10 percent of Catholic school teachers (NCEA, 2021). Incorporating multicultural education into the Catholic classroom is an effort that proves fruitful not only for English Language Learners (EL), but for every student. IHM is thrilled to have our Hispanic/Latino students in our family! Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!
Tuesday, October 4th is the feast of St. Francis! To celebrate, Fr. Chad will be offering a Pet Blessing at pickup that day. Please read the attached flyer for more information.
On Friday, October 7th, IHM is excited to be hosting a Holy Mass for the Consecration of Schools, Bishop Hying presiding! Every school in the Diocese will be sending a delegation of students to this special Holy Mass. Because of the limited space, only the IHM 8th grade, and the teachers, will be attending. Per the Diocese of Madison parents and students in other grades are not invited to the mass due to limited space. The Mass will be livestreamed for our other classrooms to watch, and we will share that link with our parents so you will be able to watch if you wish! The Mass will end with a Eucharistic procession of all attendees around the block.
I am still hunting for a person to help with our Afterschool Program every afternoon from 2:30-5:30. This is a great job for a an at-home parent, as your kids can come with you! If you know of anyone that would be interested, please have them email me at cmeiller@ihm-school.org.
As an added bonus, included with your tuition, you and your children are welcome to attend the weekly Wednesday Formation Nights at IHM! This is an enhanced formation night for everyone (children and adults) to deepen our community’s formation in the Catholic faith. We will be having a Kick-Off Dessert Party in Marian Hall on Wednesday, 9/28 from 6-7pm to tell you more! All parish and school families are invited! It’s important to attend to learn how we plan to incorporate youth and adult catechesis, adoration, witness testimonies and fun potluck social gatherings.
Our Formation Nights are drop in with no need to register for school families and parish adults.
Catholic Schools provide a firm foundation for the growth and development of your child. Pray for a year filled with faith and learning. Let us be a community of service to one another and to our world. On behalf of Fr. Chad, the teachers and staff of Immaculate Heart of Mary School, God bless you for choosing Immaculate Heart of Mary School!
Peace & Blessings,
Callie Meiller, Principal
