 From the Office

Dear Parents,

Welcome back! We hope you had a blessed Easter with lots of time together with your family!

A couple of announcements about enrollment for next fall:

  • Our 1st grade is currently at capacity for 21-22, and a wait list has been started.
  • I also wanted to let you know about a new withdrawal policy. We have added this policy to our handbook for the 21-22 School Year, and it will start this July. Please be aware that this policy is in effect regardless of the state of your application or re-enrollment packet forms, and withdrawals must be communicated directly to the school office by filling out a withdrawal form. As of right now, all current students in grades K-8 have been re-enrolled for next year, therefore this policy will apply to every K-8 student attending this school year. Here is the policy, straight from the handbook:

“Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School is committed to maintaining a low student/teacher ratio. There is a delicate balance between student enrollment numbers and the commitment needed to meet our financial responsibilities. Therefore the following policy is in effect for withdrawal of students K-8:
If you withdraw a student after July 15, you are responsible for 1st trimester tuition.
After November 15, you are responsible for 1st and 2nd trimester tuition and all fees.
After February 15, you are responsible for the full year’s tuition and all fees.”

Please let us know if you have any questions about this new policy.

If you haven’t had a chance to glance at the menu for April yet, I wanted to point out the Mrs. Walters will be gone the week of April 19-23, so plan ahead and remember that everyone needs to bring cold lunches that week, there will be no lunches available. Milk will be available for snacks and lunch that week.

Remember that ECE and Wraparound will open at 7:45 AM on Thursday, April 8th and Friday, April 9th (rather than the usual 7:00 AM). Thanks for your understanding!

Mrs. Winter will be running a Spring Book Fair to raise funds for the IHM School Library April 19-23! See the Book Fair letter and flyer in your child’s folder for a lot more information.

ECE School Year session ends on Thursday, June 10th and ECE Summer Session will go from June 14-August 23, with no classes July 5-9th. If you have any questions, let us know!

Office Reminders

  • If you or your child are logging into a Zoom event for school, please make sure to use your first and last names as your screen name, otherwise you will not be admitted. Thank you!
  • The IHM Dress Code states that uniform shorts and capri pants can be worn starting on April 1st.
  • Tuition assistance is available for students in grades K-8 whose families qualify. Apply for assistance  here: https://online.factsmgt.com/aid
There is a $35 fee to apply for tuition assistance. We encourage you to apply if you feel you need assistance; 20% of our current students are receiving some form of financial aid, and the majority of families that apply receive some aid.
  • The Eagle’s Nest, IHM’s used uniform store, will have shopping hours available in March & April! To sign-up for a time, please visit: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409094aa5aa29a75-eagles
  • The IHM federal tax ID number is 39-0828125
  • We ask our families to follow the CDC guidlelines for quaranting after travel. If you plan on your students being virtual, you need to alert their teachers AT LEAST two days ahead, the more lead time they have, the better:
    •

Get tested with a viral test 3-5 days after travel AND stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel. Even if you test negative, stay home and self-quarantine for the full 7 days.

    • If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.
    • If you don’t get tested, stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.
    • Avoid being around people who are at increased risk for severe illness for 14 days, whether you get tested or not.
    • Watch your health: Look for symptoms of COVID-19.Getting tested after travel is especially important if you did any of these activities that put you at higher risk for COVID-19:
    • Going to a large social gathering like a wedding, funeral, or party.
    • Attending a mass gathering like a sporting event, concert, or parade.
    • Being in crowds like in restaurants, bars, fitness centers, or movie theaters.
    • Taking public transportation like planes, trains or buses or being in transportation hubs like airports.
    • Traveling on a cruise ship or riverboat.

Thank you for following these guidelines and working together to keep IHM healthy and in-person!

  • If a student has been exposed to a positive COVID case, IHM  requires 10 days of quarantine from school or proof of a negative COVID test taken the 7th day after exposure, as long as the student is totally symptom-free. We will also support families who choose to keep their children home for the full 14 day quarantine, which the CDC recommends is still the safest course of action.
  • If your child is home because they are sick, we encourage them to rest and recover. Teachers ask  that they not log into their classes if they do not have the materials. Thank you for keeping sick kids home to recover.
  • If your child will be home for more than a few days, you can request virtual learning materials. Teachers need at least 2 school days to prepare materials. Please contact the teacher directly if you need materials. Please note that virtual schooling does not run the same as school hours, 8:10-3:05. It will usually only be for a few class times, and will vary by level.
  •  Use this site to order IHM Spirit Wear: https://ihm.socceretcdirect.com/index.php?route=common/home Click on “School Delivery” under Delivery Method, orders will be delivered to IHM, and we will send them home with your child as soon as we receive them! Quick Tip: If you add your name to the bottom of the order, where it says “Name if applicable,” it will add your child’s name to the piece of clothing.
  • Mrs. Walters could use some more small paper lunch bags and rags/towels! If you can help by donating some that would be much appreciated! Just send them in with your student! Thank you!

Thank You!

Many thanks to our parent/substitute teachers who have been so gracious jumping into lots of situations and lots of grades this year: Sara Rohs,  Tayler Spannknebel and John Spannknebel! We appreciate your efforts to help us out this year!
