From the Office
Dear Parents,
Would your family be interested in
making a card or writing a letter to a senior (or several!) at Heritage Monona? Cheri Nelson, the Property Manger, reached out to us: “Father Chad provides a monthly service to our residents at Heritage Monona, for which I and many others are grateful! I’m wondering if you may have students that would be interested in sending a note of encouragement to one of our Independent residents.
We have 88 Independent living units and approx. 100 residents with spouses. Many of our independents do not drive and are already quite immobile and a couple of them confined to their units. I’m noticing that our no visitor restrictions are affecting them much more since the extended stay-at-home order.”
If you would like to reach out to a senior with a card or letter,
email Mrs. Winter at secretary@ihm-school.org the number of letters/cards that your family would like to write, and she will respond with the names of that many residents. You can then mail the cards to that person at 211 Owen Rd., Monona, WI 53716. Thank you so much for helping to lift the spirits of our neighbors!
Today is midway through the 3rd Trimester, so it’s a great time to check your child’s progress in Teacher Ease, if you haven’t done it recently! Please reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns. Teachers will continue grading as they have throughout the year, but report cards will look a little different at the end of the trimester. We will keep you posted on those changes as we finalize them. Thank you for your patience
All school families can be included in IHM’s “parish-wide”communications, even if they are not parishioners. It is simple, all you have to do is text: mononacatholic to 84576. From there you will be prompted to an easy form to sign up. You will be automatically added to the groups that you select. There is a flyer linked below with more info!
IHM School is still legally mandated to take attendance. Of course, this is very different from when we are all in the same building. We have determined that if we hear from a student at least once a week (from Monday-Friday), in any way (email from student or parent, turned-in work, Zoom Mtg. attendance, see they checked into Moodle, etc.), they will be counted as in attendance that week. Please keep this in mind, and make sure to connect with teachers at least once a week. If we do not hear from a student in a given week, they will be marked absent for the entire week, and we will attempt to reach out to that student.
Catholic Schools provide a firm foundation for the growth and development of your child. Pray for a year filled with faith and learning. Let us be a community of service to one another and to our world.
Peace,
Callie Meiller, Principal
