Eagle Express 3/24/21

From the Office

Dear Parents,

Please pray for Mrs. Jenny Baerwolf’s (IHM Resource Teacher) family as they navigate some family health issues. Mrs. Baerwolf has been out for the past few weeks, and will hopefully be returning in some capacity soon, but could use all of your prayers!

Spring Break is next week! 4K-8 has off March 29-April 2nd, and K-8 also has Easter Monday, April 5th off (4K will be back in session that day, with the new 4-day AM/PM schedule). The ECE will be open for ECE & 4K Wraparound students that have pre-registered on Tues-Thurs, and Fri. morning. We are all looking forward to having a little time off from school. We hope that your family has some extra time to spend together, and everyone comes back revived and refreshed for the end of the school year!

Report Cards for Grades ECE, 4K, & K-8 are available today! ECE will have paper reports in your child’s backpack. 4K report cards are available on Infinite Campus. Grades K-8, log into your FACTs account to view the report cards. Mrs. Meiller will also email a copy to your email address. Look for the grading scale in very tiny type at the bottom of the page!

ECE and Wraparound families, please be aware the those programs will open at 7:45 AM on Thursday, April 8th and Friday, April 9th (rather than the usual 7:00 AM). Thanks for your understanding!

I wish to say many thanks to Mr. Grady Gibson, who has been our long-term substitute in Middle School while Mrs. Veencamp has been on maternity leave. Mr. Gibson’s last day is this Friday. Good luck to Mr. Gibson as he heads off to basic training! Mr. Schnell and Ms. Abby Noel will be handling MS Social Studies until Mrs. Veencamp returns on April 26th.

We are excited to be able to offer 3 Co-ed Volleyball teams – 5th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade, this spring! MAISL is currently working on schedules. The season is set to start the week of April 12. Stay tuned for more information.

Office Reminders

  • On Wednesday, April 7th the school building will be completely closed – no ECE, 4K, or K-8. Grades 4K and K-8 will have asynchronous learning that day – teachers will let you know what that will look like. ECE and 4K Wraparound will open at 7:45 on April 8 & 9th.
  • Tuition assistance is available for students in grades K-8 whose families qualify. Apply for assistance here: https://online.factsmgt.com/aid
There is a $35 fee to apply for tuition assistance. We encourage you to apply if you feel you need assistance; 20% of our current students are receiving some form of financial aid, and the majority of families that apply receive some aid.
  • The Eagle’s Nest, IHM’s used uniform store, will have shopping hours available in March! To sign-up for a time, please visit: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409094aa5aa29a75-eagles
  • The IHM federal tax ID number is 39-0828125
  • We ask our families to follow the CDC guidlelines for quaranting after travel. If you plan on your students being virtual, you need to alert their teachers AT LEAST two days ahead, the more lead time they have, the better:
    • Get tested with a viral test 3-5 days after travel AND stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel. Even if you test negative, stay home and self-quarantine for the full 7 days.
    • If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.
    • If you don’t get tested, stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.
    • Avoid being around people who are at increased risk for severe illness for 14 days, whether you get tested or not.
    • Watch your health: Look for symptoms of COVID-19.Getting tested after travel is especially important if you did any of these activities that put you at higher risk for COVID-19:
    • Going to a large social gathering like a wedding, funeral, or party.
    • Attending a mass gathering like a sporting event, concert, or parade.
    • Being in crowds like in restaurants, bars, fitness centers, or movie theaters.
    • Taking public transportation like planes, trains or buses or being in transportation hubs like airports.
    • Traveling on a cruise ship or riverboat.

Thank you for following these guidelines and working together to keep IHM healthy and in-person!

  • If a student has been exposed to a positive COVID case, IHM requires 10 days of quarantine from school or proof of a negative COVID test taken the 7th day after exposure, as long as the student is totally symptom-free. We will also support families who choose to keep their children home for the full 14 day quarantine, which the CDC recommends is still the safest course of action.
  • If your child is home because they are sick, we encourage them to rest and recover. Teachers ask that they not log into their classes if they do not have the materials. Thank you for keeping sick kids home to recover.
  • If your child will be home for more than a few days, you can request virtual learning materials. Teachers need at least 2 school days to prepare materials. Please contact the teacher directly if you need materials. Please note that virtual schooling does not run the same as school hours, 8:10-3:05. It will usually only be for a few class times, and will vary by level.
  • Use this site to order IHM Spirit Wear: https://ihm.socceretcdirect.com/index.php?route=common/home Click on “School Delivery” under Delivery Method, orders will be delivered to IHM, and we will send them home with your child as soon as we receive them! Quick Tip: If you add your name to the bottom of the order, where it says “Name if applicable,” it will add your child’s name to the piece of clothing.
  • Mrs. Walters could use some more small paper lunch bags and rags/towels! If you can help by donating some that would be much appreciated! Just send them in with your student! Thank you!

Thank You!

Thanks to all the volunteers who worked last weekend to help keep our fish fries FAMOUS! We served over 900 people and earned nearly $5,000 for IHM School. Our next fish fry event will be Memorial Day weekend!

Did You Know?

The IHM Dress Code states that uniform shorts and capri pants can be worn starting on April 1st, if the weather is appropriate – which means those items are OK after Spring Break! But watch the daily forecast, because we all know that Wisconsin weather is fickle, and students will need to go outside for recesses, even if they feel they aren’t dressed for the weather.
