From the Office

Dear Parents,

Spring might feel like it’s a long way off, but Spring conferences are coming
up on Thursday, March 9th!

Grades K, 1, &  2: Conferences are by teacher request only. You will receive an email from your child’s teacher to let you know if they are requesting a conference or not.

ECE (3K & 4K): Conferences are traditional Parent-Teacher conferences for every student. Click the links below to sign up for a time.

Grades 3-8: After a Covid break, we are again holding student-led conferences in the spring for every student in grades 3-8. These conferences will be 15 minutes in length.

When you arrive at your scheduled student-led conference time with your child this is what you can expect:

  • At a student-led conference, your child does most of the talking.
  • Your child will tell you the things he/she is working on in class.
  • Your child will show you samples of his/her work.
  • Your child will discuss with you his/her progress in each class.
  • Your child will discuss with you his/her improvement goals for the remainder of the school year.
  • After your child has finished he/she will turn the meeting over to you and the classroom teacher for any further questions or comments.

If you have further questions about this exciting process please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or myself. Sign up for a time at the links below:

IHM’s policy from our handbook for requesting homework ahead of vacation or absences:  “When a student is absent due to a family vacation, it is extremely difficult to anticipate what homework will be assigned because lesson plans are based on students’ reaction and application of material. Students who are absent from school due to vacation will have their assignments collected in a portfolio until their return. The student can make arrangements with each teacher regarding the due dates of the assignments. No assignments will be given in anticipation of a vacation.”

IHM Covid Policy is: The first day of symptoms or date of a positive test, whichever comes first, is DAY ZERO. They can return to school on DAY SIX, as long as symptoms are improving and they have been fever-free withough medication for 24 hours, and must mask until DAY TEN. If you need help with the dates, let us know! Please report any positive home test directly to Madison Dane County Public Health here: https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/7062626/PHMDCSurvey22-23.

Thank You

Did You Know?

IHM School will support the Pontifical Mission Societies by having Dress-Down days for the students every Thursday during Lent – but to participate they must pay $2 per day, or $10 for all of Lent. Students can bring the money to their teachers!

Our parish and School Lenten almsgiving will support “The Pontifical Mission Societies which serve the Church’s universality as a global netword of support for the Pope in his missionary commitment by prayer, the soul of missiong, and charitable offerings from Christians throughout the world.” – Pope Francis

Throughout the year, the Pontifical Mission Societies support the proclamation of the Gospel, the building of the church, and the work and witness of mission priests, religious Sisters and Brothers, and lay pastoral leaders. These missionaries provide food, education, and medical care to the most vulnerable communities in the Pope’s missions. through their work, they reveal the compassionate heart of Jesus.
