From the Office
Dear Parents,
We hope you had a great Thanksgiving holiday with many blessings and lots of time with family. We hope that you shared our Grandparents Day prayer service with the grandparents in your life. We also hope you received some good information (and not too many technical difficulties!) from your child’s teacher during Parent/Teacher Conferences.
Next week Tuesday, Dec. 8th is the day that the Wisconsin Supreme Court will hear the case about whether private schools will be able to continue in-person for grades 3-8 or not. We are praying that we will be able to continue in person! However, if the court orders thatprivate schools must follow the county order and go virtual, IHM will plan for Grades 3-8 to be virtual at least through Jan 4th (instead of as a child-care, like we did at the beginning of the school year.) The teachers will be prepared for that, just in case. We will then find out what we are allowed to do, and make a plan for the new year. As always, we will keep you informed about what is happening, but we did want to let you know that there is a small chance grades 3-8 will need to go virtual at short notice sometime in the next few weeks.
Please note the Monona Grove 4K will be virtual ONLY on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 21 & 22. Wraparound students should watch for a child-care sign-up from the ECE to sign up for care over Christmas Break, including those two days. A reminder that grades K-8 will have Christmas Break from Dec. 21-Jan. 1, returning on Monday, Jan. 4th.
As Catholics, we recognize the season of Advent as preparing ourselves for Christ’s birth! The 1st Advent Prayer service is here if you would like to watch it: https://vimeo.com/486007655/950d816071. Students in grades ECE & K-8 will watch the Prayer Services in class on Wednesday or Thursday of each week.
Report Cards for Grades ECE and K-8 are available today! ECE will have paper reports in your child’s backpack. Grades K-8, log into your FACTs account to view the report cards. Mrs. Meiller will also email a copy to your email address.
Just like Thanksgiving, we ask that families who spend time with anyone outside of their own household or travel anywhere for Christmas Vacation please keep students home and take advantage of virtual learning for 14 days after the travel or visit is over. Let your teachers know by Dec. 16th if your students will be virtual and for how long, so they can get materials ready for the students. Please remember that your choices will directly affect the entire IHM community and whether we will be able to stay open and in-person. Thank you for following these guidelines and for your continued open communication with IHM School!
Mrs. Binzak will be putting together Christmas activities in place of the usual Christmas Concert. We will share it in the last week before vacation starts. We will miss gathering with our families in celebration of the Christmas Holiday, but we will cherish the future concerts together even more!
Catholic Schools provide a firm foundation for the growth and development of your child. Pray for a year filled with faith and learning. Let us be a community of service to one another and to our world.
God Bless,
Callie Meiller, Principal
