From the Principal
Dear Parents,
Our Prairie Fire Theater Production of “Beauty & The Beast” is coming soon. This theater experience will be from November 5th-10th. Please encourage your 2-8th Grade child to be involved, even if they may have to miss a week of dance classes or sports. This is a once a year, very rewarding theatrical experience with their class and school community that your child will not want to miss. Lots more information below in the HSA section! The Athletic Committee is hosting Taco Tuesday on November 6 from 5:00-6:30 for $5/person, including taco/nachos, water or lemonade, and dessert. A great option for PFT participants and all IHM families!
One more week to sign up for conferences! I have left in the sign up links below for one more newsletter, in case you still need them. Conferences are on Tuesday, November 20th from 12:00-8:00 PM. Each student should have ONE conference time for all parents. If that won’t work for your family, or you can’t make this day, please contact the teacher to arrange for a different time. Sign up for a conference time by Monday, November 5th. Families not signed up by that day will be assigned a time, which might not be convenient for your family.

K-8 families are required to complete shifts or pay an opt-out fee for the upcoming HSA fundraisers. More information on the requirements can be found in last week’s Eagle Express. Sign-ups will be open through Friday, November 2 at 10:00 p.m. Those not signed up by the deadline will be assigned shifts for upcoming events. Shifts not filled will be billed at a rate of $125 per missed shift to your Smart Tuition account in May 2019. Any questions should be emailed to ihmhsa@gmail.com, not to the school office.
Prairie Fire Theater Information: This is a reminder that next week (Nov. 5-10) is Prairie Fire Theatre week for students in grades 2-8, so get excited for the upcoming production of Beauty & The Beast! Below are a few notes about the week. The students will get a full schedule on Monday after auditions.
*Please Note: If there are any children who are a little apprehensive or “on-the-fence” about participating, I encourage them to at least attend the first day before making a final decision. If they decide they don’t want to participate after the first 2 hours on Monday, we can take them off the cast list and they won’t need to come for the remainder of the week. In my past experience, many who were unsure were very happy they gave it a try. And if it helps ease any concerns for the younger students, you can let them know that Annie’s mom will be there the entire week if they need anything. (Annie assures me that everyone in grades 2, 3, 4, 5 knows who she is.)
Monday
Auditions will begin at 3:15 PM. Students should report to the gym as soon as they are dismissed from class.
About half of the students will be free to leave once auditions are concluded and about half will stay to rehearse until 7:30 PM.
This will depend upon the role your child receives, so unfortunately we won’t know his/her specific dismissal time for Monday until after the audition phase of the program.
Please send your child with a snack for dinner in case he/she needs to stay until 7:30 PM.
If your child is finished at 5:15 PM, he/she will call you to be picked up.
Tuesday
Students rehearse at staggered times on Tuesday so that they can learn their scenes in smaller groups.
Depending on your child’s role, he/she will rehearse at one of the following times on Tuesday only.
3:15 PM – 5:15 PM
4:15 PM – 5:15 PM
4:15 PM – 7:30 PM
5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
6:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Students who don’t need to rehearse until 5:30 PM or 6:30 PM can go home after school or go to Afterschool (closes at 5:30) or Homework Club (closes at 5:00), which will be open only for those participating in Prairie Fire Theater.
The Athletic Committee is sponsoring a Taco Tuesday dinner this night so feel free to attend that either before or after your child’s rehearsal time. (No tacos in the gym!)
If your child signed up to help with lights or sound, he/she does not need to come until Wednesday.
Wednesday & Thursday

Please send your child with a snack for the dinner break.
