Eagle Express 10/30/19

From the Principal

Dear Parents,

Veteran’s Day is Monday, November 11th, and IHM will be having a Veteran’s Day Prayer Service at 8:30 AM in Marian Hall. We would like to extend a special invitation to the members of our community who are Veterans or current members of the service to join us for this moving service.

It is time to sign up for conferences! Please use the links below to sign up for your child’s conferences. Each student should have ONE conference time for all parents. If that won’t work for your family, or you can’t make the scheduled day, please contact the teacher to arrange for a different time. There is more information in the letter linked below. Sign up for a conference time by Friday, November 8th. We encourage you to sign up for a time yourself by that date. If you don’t, we will have to assign you a time, and we don’t know your schedule!

IHM Eagles Athletics

The IHM Athletic Committee is looking for volunteers to help at Camp Randall on November 24th. Shifts count towards fish fry volunteer shifts. Proceeds from this event will go towards purchasing new uniforms for the IHM Athletes. Follow this link to sign up! Athletic Committee Camp Randall Volunteer Sign Up

The IHM Athletic Committee is sponsoring a Taco Bar on November 5th. We will be serving 5:00-6:30 and could use some help with set-up, serving and clean-up. Please consider helping us out. Proceeds from the Taco Bar will go towards purchasing a new scoreboard for the IHM gym. This event is open to all families, not just those involved with Prairie Fire Theater. Click here to help! HSA News

Prairie Fire Theater Information: This is a reminder that next week (Nov. 4-9) is Prairie Fire Theatre week for students in grades 2-8, so get excited for the upcoming production of Peter Pan!Below are a few notes about the week. The students will get a full schedule on Monday after auditions. We are still in need of students to run lights and sound!*Please Note: If there are any children who are a little apprehensive or “on-the-fence” about participating, I encourage them to at least attend the first day before making a final decision. If they decide they don’t want to participate after the first 2 hours on Monday, we can take them off the cast list and they won’t need to come for the remainder of the week. In the past, many who were unsure were very happy they gave it a try.

  • Monday
    • Auditions will begin at 3:15 PM.  Students should report to the gym as soon as they are dismissed from class.
    • About half of the students will be free to leave once auditions are concluded and about half will stay to rehearse until 7:30 PM.
    • This will depend upon the role your child receives, so unfortunately we won’t know his/her specific dismissal time for Monday until after the audition phase of the program.
    • Please send your child with a snack for dinner in case he/she needs to stay until 7:30 PM.
    • If your child is finished at 5:15 PM, he/she will call you to be picked up.
  • Tuesday
    • Students rehearse at staggered times on Tuesday so that they can learn their scenes in smaller groups.
Depending on your child’s role, he/she will rehearse at one of the following times on Tuesday only.

      • 3:15 PM – 5:15 PM
      • 4:15 PM – 5:15 PM
      • 4:15 PM – 7:30 PM
      • 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
      • 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM
    • Students who don’t need to rehearse until 5:30 PM or 6:30 PM can go home after school or go to Afterschool (closes at 5:30) or Homework Club (closes at 5:00).
    • The Athletic Committee is sponsoring a Taco Tuesday dinner so feel free to attend that either before or after your child’s rehearsal time. (No tacos in the gym!)
    • If your child signed up to help with lights or sound, he/she does not need to come until Wednesday.
  • Wednesday & Thursday
    • Rehearsal from 3:15 – 7:30 PM.
    • Please send your child with a snack for the dinner break.
  • Friday
    • Rehearsal from 3:15 – 5:30 PM.
    • We will have a pizza party for the cast from 5:30 – 6PM and show time is at 7PM.
  • Saturday
    • Please arrive by 1 PM.
    • Show time is at 2PM!

If you have any questions before/during PFT, please feel free to call or text me.

Did You Know?

The  Fall Family Dance raised over $1000 for the Athletic Committee! Lots of fun was had by all, and all of the proceeds go to support the purchase of a new scoreboard for our gym, and uniforms for our teams! Thank you to all who helped and all who attended, especially AC president Elizabeth Lynch!
