Eagle Express 1/7/21

From the Office

Dear Parents,

Happy New Year! I hope that your holidays were relaxing and fun. We are looking forward to a new year and all the possibilities that it will bring. This week was the feast of the Epiphany, or the Feast of the Three Kings. The story explains how the Magi searched for Jesus and made this search their top priority. Jesus calls us to always search for Him. May we find Jesus in all those we know and meet and the experiences that we will have this year.

Mrs. Veencamp, our Middle School Social Studies/Math teacher, and her husband John welcomed baby boy Micah Joseph yesterday, January 5th. Baby and family are doing great! Congratulations to the Veencamps and welcome baby Micah to the IHM family! We would also like to welcome Mrs. Veencamp’s long-term substitutes, Mr. Grady Gibson (Social Studies) and Mr. Tim Brumm (Math). There are also three new students that started at IHM in January: Cooper Carlin and Alex Lakner in Kindergarten, and Mayson Baumgartner in 4th grade. Welcome to the new students and their families, as well!
Application (for new students, including siblings) and Re-Enrollment (for current students) will begin within the next few weeks. Because of the crazy year and our new processes, we need a few weeks to get it all ready. Please spread the news to anyone you know who may be interested in IHM School. Parents are our best advertising! Don’t forget to have new families mention that you referred them and collect your $250 referral credit (credited on November tuition)!

If you have a child that will be in the Early Childhood, 4K, Kindergarten or Middle School next year, you may be interested in our Virtual Open House on Sunday, Jan. 31st! Look for a flyer and more information in the Eagle Express next week. It is a great way to learn about the programs, and to get your questions answered. Please share that date if you know of a family that is thinking of IHM for one of those classes.

Catholic Schools provide a firm foundation for the growth and development of your child. Pray for a year filled with faith and learning. Let us be a community of service to one another and to our world.

God Bless,
Callie Meiller, Principal

Office Reminders

  • CDC guidelines have changed.   If a student has been exposed to a positive COVID case, IHM will now require only 10 days of quarantine from school or proof of a negative COVID test taken the 7th day after exposure, as long as the student is totally symptom-free. We will also support families who choose to keep their children home for the full 14 day quarantine, which the CDC recommends is still the safest course of action.
  • 4K Families, you may have heard from the district that there is no school January 19th- 21st. However, because we have already been in-person and have everything in place, IHM will be open on those 3 days with the regular schedule. Please plan to send your 4K student for their usual schedule that week. Please let us know if you have any questions.
  • We are looking for donations of greeting cards/envelopes and small, new Bingo prizes for Catholic Schools Week, coming up a the end of the month. Please send them with your child to drop off in the office. Thank you!
  • If your child that is usually in-person won’t be at school, please notify the teacher or the office by 8:00 AM. We don’t need the grizzly details, but this year we do need to know if there are any COVID-related symptoms, so please let us know in the voice mail or email. Mrs. Winter will need to contact you to verify if we don’t know the reason or symptoms.
  • If your child is home because they are sick, we encourage them to rest and recover. They do not need to log-in to Big Blue Button (BBB) or Zoom, although they can if they wish. Students that are home sick (not for quarantining) are marked absent, whether or not they log-in for the day.
  • If your child will be home for more than a few days, you can request virtual learning materials. Teachers need at least 2 school days to prepare materials. Please contact the teacher directly if you need materials.
  •  Use this site to order IHM Spirit Wear: https://ihm.socceretcdirect.com/index.php?route=common/home Click on “School Delivery” under Delivery Method, orders will be delivered to IHM, and we will send them home with your child as soon as we receive them! Quick Tip: If you add your name to the bottom of the order, where it says “Name if applicable,” it will add your child’s name to the piece of clothing.
  • Mrs. Walters has an ongoing need for snack and sandwich-size plastic storage bags (fold over tops preferred!) and brown lunch bags. If you can donate, please send them in with your child!

Thank You!

Thank you to everyone that donated items for the 4th Grade Christmas stocking raffle, and for those who purchased raffle tickets! The 4th grade raised $900 for the St. Vincent dePaul Society!
