From the Office
Dear Parents,
Happy New Year! I hope that your holidays were relaxing and fun. We are looking forward to a new year and all the possibilities that it will bring. Tomorrow is the feast of the Epiphany, or the Feast of the Three Kings. The story explains how the Magi searched for Jesus and made this search their top priority. Jesus calls us to always search for Him. May we find Jesus in all those we know and meet and the experiences that we will have this year.
Thank you for your patience with all of the COVID communication from the office this week! To keep things easier on our office and our families, we will follow the previous guidelines for quarantining until the Public Health department publishes the new guidelines, hopefully sometime this week. We will let you know!
We need your help! Please fill out this survey and return it to the school office by next Wednesday,January 12, 2022: https://forms.gle/ddqSGupoF3AupfHu8
Your responses help determine the amount of Title 1 funding available to IHM School. That means we get money to provide services to our students! It is very important, and we can use your help! Your family name and information will be kept confidential at our school, only a summary of the data collected is provided to MMSD where it is utilized for calculating the Title I allocation for services.
If you want to order a DVD of the IHM School Christmas Concerts, please go to this order form and order by next Friday, January 14th: https://forms.gle/GHCJ27mgCZ3WSZhZ6. DVD’s are $13 each, and we will charge you for them on your February FACTs withdrawal.
Over Christmas break, I was able to hire a part-time first grade substitute teacher. I will still continue teaching in the morning and do the lesson planning. She will teach first grade in the afternoon and work in the after school care program, as well. Her name is Greta Kelly (Miss Kelly) and she recently graduated from UW. I am very excited for her to join our IHM team! Please see a message from her below:
“Hello! My name is Greta Kelly, and I am so excited to be joining the staff at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School! As a recent graduate from UW-Madison, I am beginning my career in education as a long-term substitute for IHM’s first grade and in the after school program for the rest of the school year. I love arts and crafts, music, and movement, and I hope to bring some of my own energy into the classrooms I will be working in! I am also a member of a local church in Madison. I look forward to encouraging students in their faith and becoming part of the IHM faith community as an educator. When I am not teaching, or helping out on my church’s hospitality team, I enjoy trying new coffee shops, reading, and learning languages like German and Turkish. I can’t wait to meet you all! “
Applications for the 22-23 school year (for new students, including siblings) will begin next week! Please spread the news to anyone you know who may be interested in IHM School. Parents are our best advertising! Don’t forget to have new families mention that you referred them and collect your $250 referral credit (credited on November tuition)!
For current K-7 students, re-enrollment is assumed unless you let the office know that you do not plan to re-enroll.
More information will be coming in next week’s Eagle Express.
If you have a child that will be in the Early Childhood, 4K, Kindergarten or Middle School next year, you may be interested in our Open House on Sunday, Jan. 30th! Look for a flyer and more information in the Eagle Express next week. It is a great way to learn about the programs, and to get your questions answered. Please share that date if you know of a family that is thinking of IHM for one of those classes.
Catholic Schools provide a firm foundation for the growth and development of your child. Pray for a year filled with faith and learning. Let us be a community of service to one another and to our world.
God Bless, Callie Meiller, Principal
