Eagle Express 1/22/2020

From the Principal

Dear Parents,

Because it is that time of year, I wanted to remind everyone that we follow the decision of the Monona Grove School District as to closings. The factors they consider to determine if schools will be CLOSED:
Snow:

  • Large amounts of accumulation
  • Drifting and blowing
  • Unsafe road conditions throughout the district

Cold:

  • If a Wind Child WARNING is issued by the National Weather Service, schools will most likely be closed.
  • If a Wind Chill WATCH is issued, schools will be open.

A decision to delay or close schools will be made by 6:00 a.m. on school days. Parents who feel the weather conditions pose an undue risk for their child are encouraged to use their own judgment in making a decision whether or not to send your child to school. Students kept home due to this parental decision will be considered excused. IHM will contact you with our Emergency Notification system if we are closed, as well.

It is half way through the trimester, and we want to remind parents of Middle School students to check their children’s grades in Teacher Ease. Sign in with your account at Teacher Ease (use the email where you get your Eagle Express), or contact me for help!

“Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed” is the theme of this year’s Catholic School Week, starting on January 26th. There will be a kick-off Mass at 10:15 on the 26th, followed by a Family Fun Day & Open House at school, as well as information sessions about our many programs! Please consider attending this mass and open house to be a visible “Thank You” to the parish that supports our school.

Catholic Schools provide a firm foundation for the growth and development of your child. Pray for a year filled with faith and learning. Let us be a community of service to one another and to our world.

Callie Meiller, Principal

Office Reminders

  • The IHM federal tax ID number is 39-0828125.
  • Current ECE and K-7 families will be charged a non-refundable re-enrollment fee of $75 per family on the February 25th FACTs account, unless we hear from you that your plans have changed for next year.
  • Menu change for tomorrow, Thursday January 23rd: Mrs. Walters will be serving Macaroni and Cheese instead of what is listed on the menu.
  • We are still looking for help with cutting fleece for the blanket making next week! If you can help Monday from 9:00-10:00 in Marian Hall, please email Mrs. Hess at chess@ihm-school.org.
  • Parents please DO NOT drop off your children at the front door to enter the building in the morning. The back doors are open until 8:30. Only bus students should enter the building in the morning through the front door. Thank you for helping to keep the sanity of the office staff intact!
  • It is cold and flu season – yuck. If your child has a fever or is vomiting, please keep them home while they have those symptoms and for 24 hours after the symptoms have stopped without medication. Thank you!

Thank You

Many thanks to Mrs. Jenny Teche, our 4th grade long-term sub! We appreciate all you have done for the 4th grade and IHM! We are looking forward to having Mrs. Lipski back next week!

Last year the Student Council sold over 1600 Candy Grams! That’s a lot of love (and candy)! Also, the student council could use donations of individually wrapped candies for this year’s candy grams! Please send donations to Sr. Sue!
