Dear Parents,

Because it is the season, we want to let you know what to expect if school needs to close for bad weather. Usually we follow the decision of the Monona Grove School District as to closings, and we will continue that practice for days that MG is in-person (starting Jan. 25th). The factors they consider to determine if schools will be CLOSED:
Snow:

Large amounts of accumulation
Drifting and blowing
Unsafe road conditions throughout the district

Cold:

If a Wind Child WARNING is issued by the National Weather Service, schools will most likely be closed.
If a Wind Chill WATCH is issued, schools will be open.

A decision to delay or close schools will be made by 6:00 a.m. on school days. Parents who feel the weather conditions pose an undue risk for their child are encouraged to use their own judgment in making a decision whether or not to send your child to school. Students kept home due to this parental decision will be considered excused.

Until MG is in-person, or on Wednesdays when they are not, the decision will be up to me, and I will use the same criteria. IHM will use our emergency parent alert system to let you know if school is closed, whoever is making the call. Please note that if school is closed for a weather event, it will NOT be a virtual day. It will be a traditional snow day off of school, and the students will not have synchronous school work.

If you are interested in our Virtual Enrollment Events for ECE, 4K, Kdgn. or Middle School on Sunday, Jan. 31st please email secretary@ihm-school.com with the level you would like to attend, and Mrs. Winter will send you the link. It is a great way to learn about the programs, and to get your questions answered. Please share that date if you know of a family that is thinking of IHM for one of those classes.

Office Reminders

Current ECE and K-7 students will be assessed a non-refundable re-enrollment fee of $75 on the Feb. 25th tuition, unless we hear differently from you by Feb. 10th. Watch for re-enrollment forms, available soon.
For SIBLINGS who have not yet attended IHM, please apply for the 21-22 school year using this link: https://ihm-wi.client.renweb.com/oa/?memberid=14999. Don’t share this link with new families please, they will get the link after they take a required tour.
Priority Application for current IHM families and IHM parishioners goes through Feb. 10th. After that date, application is open to the public, and it is first-come, first-serve. So make sure to apply before Feb. 10th!
We are looking for donations of greeting cards/envelopes and small, new Bingo prizes, Solo cups, ping pong balls and chopsticks for Catholic Schools Week, coming up a the end of the month. Please send them with your child to drop off in the office. Thank you!
CDC guidelines have changed. If a student has been exposed to a positive COVID case, IHM will now require only 10 days of quarantine from school or proof of a negative COVID test taken the 7th day after exposure, as long as the student is totally symptom-free. We will also support families who choose to keep their children home for the full 14 day quarantine, which the CDC recommends is still the safest course of action.
If your child is home because they are sick, we encourage them to rest and recover. Teachers ask that they not log into their classes if they do not have the materials. Thank you for keeping sick kids home to recover!
If your child will be home for more than a few days, you can request virtual learning materials. Teachers need at least 2 school days to prepare materials. Please contact the teacher directly if you need materials.

Quick Tip: If you add your name to the bottom of the order, where it says “Name if applicable,” it will add your child’s name to the piece of clothing.

Thanks to all of the parents that have donated paper lunch bags and plastic sandwich bags to Mrs. Walters and our lunch program! We appreciate your support of this extra cost for our school lunch program!

Save the Dates! Our famous fish fries are scheduled for FEB 26 and MAR 19. Please consider volunteering to help-out! These events usually require 20-25 volunteers in order to run smoothly. Sign-up coming soon!
